“A healthy community is a happy community.”

— Dr. Maurice Martin, FOUNDER

Caring For Our Neighbors Since 1979

Our mission at Somerville Family Practice is to collaborate with you to help keep you healthy, treat you thoughtfully should you become ill, and coordinate your care if you need to see a specialist. Knowing our patients in the context of their family and community is a guiding principal of our practice and is of enormous advantage in caring for you wisely. We provide quality, compassionate care for every age and every stage. We practice medicine to preserve and protect your health now and for a healthy, happy lifetime.

In family medicine we see everyone from infants to the elderly. Each provider is skilled in pediatrics, adolescent medicine, women’s health, adult medicine, and geriatrics. However, you do not have to be a family to join our practice. Many of our patients are individuals; others are couples.

Somerville Family Practice has transitioned to EPIC, an electronic medical records system that allows us to easily coordinate your care with other medical institutions in the greater Boston area.

Our Beginning

At Somerville Family Practice, we're with you for life!

At Somerville Family Practice, we're with you for life!

Somerville Family Practice opened in 1979, at a time when there were few physicians in Somerville. Owing to this shortage, the U. S. Public Health Service awarded Dr. Maurice Martin a grant to establish the office. By 1982, the practice was thriving, and many in Somerville depended on the high quality, personalized care that the practice provided. The practice now includes Maggie Satterfield FNP, Kristin Loucks PA, Jackie Wescott PA, and Dr. Daniel Wemple, who joined the practice in 2017 as our medical director. Dr. Martin retired in 2016, and Nancy Landry RN, the clinic’s longtime nurse manager, took over the practice.

The practice is supported by our experienced and friendly front-desk staff and medical assistants.
